Alex is the owner and lead coach at Butte Elite Volleyball Club.He played for local PV high, then moved onto the NAIA level while playing OH, OPP and MB for Johnson & Wales in Denver, CO. During his time in Denver, his team made Nationals (top 6 teams in NAIA) two times and he was named team MVP in 2012 and 2013.

Since returning to Chico, Alex has coached frosh and junior varsity girls at PV high - leading his teams to a 62-4 league record and five league titles in five years of coaching.This includes several local and regional tournament championships.

For the last several years, Alex has been involved in Club and training the next wave of club volleyball players in Chico, CA.

Sinath Chiem is the assistant coach at Butte Elite Volleyball Club.
​He played for Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach CA. from 1992 – 1995, 4 years of Varsity, and Defensive Specialist Award 3 straight years.

After graduating from High School, he was offered a full-ride Scholarship to play for California State University, Long Beach. Although his father asked he attend Chico State alongside his oldest brother who was already playing for Chico State. He played for California State University, Chico, from 1995 – 1997 in the position of OH and OPP.

Sinath decided to start coaching JV girls volleyball at Hamilton City High with his oldest brother and has been a large part of helping train the past and next generations.​

Abbey Brown is the head coach for Butte Elite's Paradise Ridge team.Abbey is from Middletown, CA - a small town similar to Paradise. She was a four-year varsity player at Middletown HS, primarily as a MB but also played OH and OPP. She was named MVP and All-County.

While Abbey's passion for volleyball never wavered, she chose to focus on academics in college - attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for a pre-veterinary program and graduated in 2024. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Paradise, CA.

Abbey is currently the Varsity Head Coach at Paradise HS.

Ellis Lor is the Head Coach for Butte Elite's Boys Volleyball team. Born and raised in Chico with 10 years of playing experience, including four years as a libero on the varsity team at Chico High School from 2014 to 2018.

Ellis is also the Head Coach of Chico High's varsity Boys Volleyball program for the past 2 years.

When Ellis is not coaching, he is playing in competitive grass and indoor circuit tournaments.

David Yang is the head coach of Butte Elite's 14U team.

David is from Sacramento, CA and has been living in Chico since 2013. He found his passion and love for volleyball while playing at local PV High - where he played OPP/DS.

​

He graduated from Chico State with a BA in Kinesiology, Coaching Pattern, with a minor in Adapted Physical Education and Sports Performance.

​

He first started coaching in 2021 at Durham Jr and with CARD before transitioning into Club volleyball. His Durham team went undefeated in the local league.

Tony Yang is the assistant coach of the Butte Elite Volleyball Club.

Tony is from Sacramento, CA and has been living in Chico since 2017. Basketball has been his passion for his whole life, but eventually found his love for volleyball when he transfer to Pleasant Valley High School.

Throughout the years, Tony has played in a couple of local tournaments that were hosted in Oroville and Chico while focusing on his academics in Kinesiology at Butte College.

Tony is currently preparing to coach basketball at Chico Jr. as an assistant coach and is excited to start coaching as an assistant for Butte Elite.

Currently plays OH/DS for local division two Chico State University.

Currently plays setter for local division two Chico State University.

Currently plays MB for local division two Chico State University.

Claire is from Chico, Ca and has been playing volleyball since she was in elementary school. After high school, she played for Butte College as a libero/defensive specialist. 

​

Claire has recently graduated from UC Davis and is now back in Chico excited to coach the sport she loves. Although her college volleyball days are over, you can still find her playing recreation league and competing in doubles grass tournaments.
